CHANGING a retail station into a residential area asked for a rigorous clean-up. The source zone near a tank farm was removed via dig-and-dump and some pump-and-treat. As a polishing step, it was decided to inject ORC advanced within the plume area.
Within the half-acre area, 73 bottom-up direct push injections were performed between 1 and 5 meters of depth. At each location, the slurry, mixed with one standard bucket of the Regenesis product, was injected. As predicted within a few months concentrations in the plume area decreased from roughly 100 PPB to non-detectable levels.
